As everyone should know by now, I was working in a movie theater this summer. And as you could probably guess, my job became a big chunk of my life.
The point of movies is to pull you away from reality for a while, and completely envelop you in another world, sight, sound, and even touch. Working in a theater has that effect on you, too. There is nothing outside the theater world. You know no one except those you work with, you had no life before, you have no life after, because you will never stop working there.
I know that sounds horrible, like some kind of jumanji, and honestly, at times it was. But there were also wonderful times, when I loved everyone that I worked with, and I loved being at work and didn't want to leave after I got off. Now that it's over...I think it was honestly more the latter.
I learned SO MUCH from so many people that I worked with. I would like to sit here and list them all and what I learned from them...but that would be so long and ridiculous, just like all the rest of my blogs. So I will try to say it in one word for each person.
Abby: optimism

Carolyn: gumption

I doubt these are the things that anyone would expect they've taught me, but this is really how it went down for me. Most of them came from just one positive defining experience. Some came from a number of defining positive experiences, and some came from a conglomeration of defining positive and negative experiences. But no matter how I learned it, I am really grateful that I was able to work with these people. :)
